Conventional floating rotors rely on circular rivets that fight against thermal expansion, eventually distorting the rotor blade and causing brake pulsation or a spongy pedal. EBC Racing's SD-System replaces those circular buttons with square-sided drive rivets, eliminating that conflict entirely and keeping your 2006-2012 Mustang GT500 front rotor flat and true through every heat cycle.

Unrestricted thermal expansion. Under hard braking, a rotor blade expands and contracts both radially and across its bandwidth. Circular buttons restrict that inward radial movement, loading the rotor asymmetrically and bending it sideways. The square-sided SD button lets the blade move inward and outward without restraint, so the rotor remains geometrically perfect regardless of temperature or braking load.

Line contact instead of point contact. Every circular button transfers drive forces through a single point of contact. Over extended use, that point contact allows the rotor blade to develop slackness relative to the inner hub, which can escalate into rotor throw-out and severe vibration at speed. The square drive face transmits those same forces across a full line of contact, maintaining tight tolerances in the drive direction far longer and dramatically extending the service life of the assembly.

A service life measured in multiples, not miles. Because distortion failures and drive-direction slackness are the two primary reasons floating rotors fail prematurely, eliminating both failure modes means the disc ring should last five to ten times as long as a conventional floating rotor. The only conditions that should require replacement are impact damage or exceeding rotor wear limits after an exceptionally high mileage accumulation.

Direct-fit replacement for the GT500 floating hub. This is the left-hand front disc ring, sold as a replacement blade for the factory floating rotor assembly on 2006-2012 Mustang GT500 applications. It matches the factory 355mm diameter and 32mm width and pairs with the existing inner hub.
