Forged from Callies-owned dies. These cranks are not sourced from generic offshore forgings. Callies owns the dies used to forge each Compstar crankshaft, so the geometry, material distribution, and counterweight profiles are built to their engineering spec from the start. A triangle-shaped notch in one of the counterweights identifies the piece as a genuine Callies forging.
4340 steel with in-house metallurgical verification. The 4340 steel forgings are semi-machined offshore and then shipped to Callies' Fostoria, Ohio facility for final finishing. Every crankshaft goes through 100% magnetic particle inspection to confirm there are no cracks or inclusions. The in-house metallurgical laboratory then verifies material composition and heat treatment before any part proceeds to the next stage.
American craftsmen finish every crankshaft. Final sizing, polishing, runout checks, bolt hole verification, and oil hole inspection are all performed by Callies personnel at their Ohio facility. A final quality control pass confirms each crankshaft meets race-ready tolerances before it ships.
