Hi everybody Brian from Steeda, highlighting the benefits and uses of the Steeda Billet Rear Spring Spacers for the S550 Mustang. The Billet Rear Spring Spacers do exactly as their name suggests, they are spacers for the rear springs and the idea here is to raise the rear ride height and this is important if you want to change the rake of the car without having to change the springs. This means if you like the springs that you have, the spring rates and just simply want to tweak the lowering a little bit. Well we have these billet spring spacers and they sit between the top of the spring perch and the body itself and it simply raises the car. A technical note to keep in mind is that when you're choosing the thickness of your spring spacer, keep in mind the motion ratio of the rear suspension on the S550 Mustang is nearly 2:1. What this means is that you have your pivot point, you have your suspension more or less your spring and then you have your wheel, so the spring is almost dead center. This ultimately means that for every inch that the wheel travels, the spring only compresses half that. So if you get one inch of wheel travel it's a half inch at the spring. What does this mean as far as the wheel spacers are concerned? This means that if you want to get a 1/4 inch rise in the back you would go with the 1/8th inch spacers. Likewise if you wanted to get a little bit more than that you could go to the 1/4 inch spacers which will now raise it a half inch at the tire and for the tallest we offer the 3/8 inch thick spacers which will raise the back of the car three quarters of an inch and again that's at the tire. One of the other scenarios that has played out is, lowering springs and everybody going into a brand new car or the first time they're lowering a car wants to go aggressive. They really want that stanced out look! The problem is you run out of suspension travel and all of a sudden now the car doesn't ride very well, whatever it might be or just simply getting in and out of your driveway becomes difficult, well there is spring spaces are a great way to again adjust the ride height of the car and of course we just addressed the rear. Well don't forget we've been doing all this stuff a long time we're not going to leave you in the dark. We also offer a set that works with our Camber Plates up front as well as a set that works with the factory upper strut mounts up front. So obviously you've got the spacers for the rear which we're focusing on today as well as spacers up front. This means that you can subtly raise the entire car if you want or as we're talking about today just the back of the car. Another common application is the Mustang convertible. Anytime you remove a hard top, you need to reinforce the chassis with additional bracing. Anytime you add additional bracing typically you're adding a little bit more weight and in particular this adds weight over the back of the car. Add in the fact that when the top goes down it also sits over the rear heels, now you're really putting a lot of weight right over that rear suspension, so these billet spacers allow you to bring the back of the car up some. So whether you're carrying in some cargo and have the top down and you're simply enjoying yourself. This is a great way to bring the rake of the car back to where it should be. The idea here is to ultimately offer you different solutions to what you might be trying to achieve with the car. If you're trying to fit those racing slicks under the back of the car and you've got the Steeda Drag Springs in the back and want to get just a little bit more ride height out of it for extra fender clearance. Well this is a great way to do it. 1/4 inch coil spring spacers
These really did the trick, I've got wheels that poke about 1inch on a 17 s550 the tires rubbed on some bumps .I had these installed , hasn't rubbed since!

Autobahn Ride
Installed these when I installed the Steeda Dual Rate Ultimate Handling Springs in the rear of my Mustang. I want just a hint of rake. Stance looks great. Autobahn has been a great ride. What a complement to the springs.
