Steeda Engine Calibration Testing at Homestead Sets the Bar for S650 Tuning – Track Tested & Street Proven!

Steeda Battle Testing S650 Tuning

Innovation & product development are key parts of the Steeda S650 Tuning Program – Not All Tunes are Created Equal!

HOMESTEAD, FL - Steeda Autosport is pleased to announce a major milestone in the development of the tuning program for the all-new S650 Ford Mustang platform. This past Saturday, Glen Vitale, Steeda’s Vice President, took the Steeda HPDE S650 to Homestead-Miami Speedway to conduct the first real-world track test of the S650 Mustang’s custom calibration developed by Palm Beach Dyno and enabled through HP Tuners.

This test marked the first time the S650 Mustang was track-tuned and validated outside of a dynamometer, making Steeda the first aftermarket brand to move beyond facility testing and into real-world conditions with this innovative tune.

As excited as we are about the dyno gains, that’s only part of the story. What we learn on the track - throttle response in the corners and power delivery through the gears - can’t be replicated on the dyno. The goal is to perfect this tune for real drivers on real roads, and there’s no substitute for track testing when it comes to refining performance.

Glen Vitale, Vice President, Steeda

This session was entirely about validating the tune under real-world track conditions and ensuring the utmost reliability and consistency for consumers. Our primary focus was on making certain the calibration is robust, delivers predictable performance, and maintains the integrity and longevity of your S650 Mustang, rather than simply chasing lap times.

I’m extremely pleased with how the track session went. With a new platform like the S650, we usually spend most of the day chasing torque limits, wrench lights, and calibration headaches. But this time, the only issue we had was too much horsepower, which is the kind of problem we like to have.

Opening Doors For The S650 Platform

The ability to tune the S650 Mustang was once thought nearly impossible. As Ford Authority first reported in 2022, the introduction of Ford’s Fully-Networked Vehicle (FNV) electrical architecture significantly increased cybersecurity protocols. Designed to protect the vehicle from cyber threats, especially those related to over-the-air updates—this architecture made third-party tuning virtually inaccessible.

However, HP Tuners has recently cracked the code, enabling tuning support for vehicles using the FNV platform. Steeda quickly partnered with Palm Beach Dyno to capitalize on the breakthrough and begin development for its own high-performance tune.

Steeda S650 HPDE – White Stallion

The test mule for this historic run is Steeda’s own 2024 Mustang GT, affectionately named White Stallion, a purpose-built HPDE (High Performance Driving Event) car that’s already proven itself in the corners. Though White Stallion has been a standout on track in terms of handling and braking, it has lacked the straight-line punch to dominate across all sectors. With dyno gains already showing a projected 30+ additional horsepower from the new tune, and even more possible with supporting mods—Steeda expects a major performance leap this weekend.

The corners have always been our strength; now we’re unlocking the power to match. And by testing it under race conditions at Homestead, we’re ensuring it’s not just fast, it’s reliable, balanced, and track-proven.

What’s Next for our S650s?

Saturday’s test is just the start of what is to come. The S650 tune will continue to be pulled into other vehicles within the Steeda Race Program – most notably the S650 Silver Bullet. Scott Boda, our lead for the Steeda Drag Program, is already eager to take it to the track & to set new times, records & potentially world-records! In future sessions, our focus will shift toward refining the tune to produce even faster lap times, further demonstrating the true potential of the S650 Mustang platform.

As with all Steeda products, the end goal is clear: deliver track-tested, street-approved performance to Mustang owners around the globe.
