Scott Boda with Steeda Autosports here. Today we'll be installing our Steeda Billet Idler Pulleys, fitting the 2015-2017 GT Mustangs. These pulleys are made out of 6061 T6 aircraft grade, billet aluminum and are stronger than the OEM pulleys. To avoid possible injury, we recommend disconnecting the battery to ensure that the engine can not start. Removing the intake assembly will increase the room to ease the installation of the idler pulleys. Remove the front serpentine belt by using a ratchet and a 15mm socket, and rotating it counter-clockwise to loosen the tension on the belt. If you do not have a diagram of the belt routing, you should draw it on a sheet of paper to ensure the proper fitment later on. With the belt lose, slip it off any pulley and slowly release the tension on the tensioner. Now remove the factory idler pulley by removing the 13mm flange-head bolt from the engine. Both pulleys are to have their curved faces, facing the front of the car. The face with the counterbore is to face the engine once installed. Install the billet idler pulley over the boss on the front engine cover where the factory pulley bearing rode. Remove the tensioner assembly from the car by removing the 13mm flange-head bolt securing it to the front engine cover. With the tensioner removed from the car, gently clamp the arm of the tensioner in a vise to hold it in place while removing the pulley. Remove the 15mm flange headed bolt from the tensioner pulley. This bolt is reverse thread, so you will be turning it clockwise to remove it. Transfer the new pulley onto the arm of the tensioner. Re-install the bolt onto the tensioner without the steel washer. Tighten the bolt to spec. With the new pulley installed on the tensioner, re-install the tensioner on the car. Once in place, tighten the bolt to spec. Re-install the serpentine belt by assuring the belt is properly centered and seated on all the pulleys. Re-install the airbox if it was removed previously. Re-connect the battery if it was disconnected previously, and start the car. Run the engine for about 10 seconds and then turn it off to check to make sure the belt is seated properly on all the pulleys. Congratulations you have now installed your Steeda Billet Idler Pulleys! Thank you for choosing Steeda, where Speed Matters!
