The cutout area of the socket allows for access to the shock or strut shaft. This allows for an allen key or box wrench to hold the shaft while the nut is torqued to the correct specification. S550 strut nut socket
Hands down, this is the proper tool for the job. It allows the proper torque to be applied to the strut nuts by allowing access to the strut shaft to put a wrench in it to keep the shaft from spinning while you torque it to spec. Unlike most applications I have seen on line where a pneumatic impact gun is used with no attention to torque spec, this Steeda special made socket is the only way to go. So happy to have found this tool from Steeda.

Strut socket
Product works definitely recommend this over using a impact. Before I had this I snapped my strut with impact gun.

Nice little tool. Gets the job done. Be careful whoever delivers it doesn't steal it....they did mine and I had to ask Steeda for another one. No problems there.

Strut nut socket - a must-have tool
Installed some caster-camber plates and was delighted to find Steeda sells this socket. It works very well and allows the nut to be properly torqued. Suggest that you use a quality 6-point closed end wrench for the strut tip. A 12-point may not hold, or, it will move on the flats and get stuck (ask me how I know). Good pricing and excellent quality and speedy shipping from Steeda. I would recommend this socket to a friend!
