Steeda's rear trailing arms for 2011+ Ford Explorers are made from thick walled tubular DOM steel and tig welded for ultimate strength. On the end that attaches to the chassis they feature high durometer poly urethane bushings that reduce the sloppiness inherent in the OE rubber bushings without added NVH (noise vibration or harshness). The open ends that attach to the IRS feature a welded gusset plate to further reduce flex or twist under extreme conditions. The DOM (drawn over mandrel) tube has no welded seams and won't flex like the weak factory arm during spirited driving. For towing applications, these arms provide a great improvement in stability. The final touch is Steeda's tough looking battleship gray powder coat that won't chip or corrode like other arms on the market.

Note : Arms are sold as a pair and not specific to driver or passenger side.

CA Residents: Cancer and Reproductive Harm WARNING

Hi everybody Brian from Here today to show you our Trailing Arms for the 2011 to 2019 Ford Explorer. Ford really hit a home run when they introduced this iteration of the Explorer in 2011. Great chassis, great powertrain options and a lot of room for you and your precious cargo. Over the years as these have been on the market for a little while, they've been used for many different things. Again to haul the family on vacations to run to Home Depot to pick up some items and even to tow your boat, or your utility trailer, or in our case the Silver Bullet. As great as it is we found a way to make it better. The factory control arms have a soft durometer bushing and now with these trucks aging some being eight nine years old that bushing is likely torn already. So these make a great replacement for the stock trailing arms. They're direct bolt in, no modifications are needed. Now what makes them really special is our exclusive use of three bushings. We use the center bushing to reduce deflection. So that's gonna be a higher durometer bushing and the softer durometer bushings on the outsides. This is going to insulate the connection from any type of noise vibration or harshness. However we know that you're to learn more about the performance benefits. The bushings that we use our higher durometer, higher durometer than the factory bushings. What this does is ensures that the rear suspension stays on its design arc or within its factory geometry. This is really important especially when you're adding load to the back of the vehicle, whether it be your family and all of your luggage going on a family trip or simply going to the home-improvement store picking up sand, stones whatever it is you put in the back of your truck. The bushings are going to ensure that the control arm doesn't have any forward backward movement and really to make sure that the rear doesn't have any sort of toe out or towing issues otherwise known as bump steer when you're traveling down the road with the extra weight. Now we've also constructed these of thick walled tubular steel and this is really important because this increases the the torsional rigidity or the resistance to twisting under load and we've just talked about how important that is. Like you we quickly learn the limitations of the stock Explorer. So that's why we went with the higher durometer bushings and the oversized tubing so that you get more torsional rigidity. This is going to equal a more sporting fuel and you're driving the truck around town and more capabilities and confidence when you're towing. Our Trailing Arms are completed with a durable powder coat finish and they're backed by our Steeda lifetime warranty. We proudly manufacture these in the USA at our Valdosta Georgia facility. Now when you combine these with our adjustable rear sway bar completely transforms your Explorer which brings us to this point, what are you towing behind your Explorer? These arms will also fit 2013+ Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS. I have them on mine and they do a great job making the car feel a lot more responsive and reducing lateral play in the rear suspension. The toe links from Steeda for the Explorer will NOT fit the Taurus or MKS.

I installed the Steeda springs, Steeda rear sway bar and Steeda rear trailing arms. The handling and stance is great.

I decided to replace these with the Steeda version, on my 2018 Ford Explorer, at the same time I was also replacing the stock rear sway bar with the Steeda version of the sway bar. While the sway bar upgrade did wonders for the inherent body-roll issues, I do believe that also replacing the stock trailing arms with the Steeda version really stiffened the ride, something that some may or may not view as desireable. In my case, I find that it definitely stiffened my ride, which of course has handling benefits as well, but also the drawback of passing-along a lot more of the bumps, especially on rough or washboard roads... a change which was substantial. I guess what I'm saying is that, if you like a really solid ride, and don't mind feeling a lot more of the bumps in the road, then this option is for you. If not, then just go with the Steeda sway bar kit, which is definitely an easy improvement for handling on turns, and leave it at that.

Great Product
I was amazed at how much of a different these made on my platinum. They really tightened up the steering nicely, and eliminated the bump steer in the suspension.
