Crankcase blow-by is a constant problem on the 1987-1993 Mustang 5.0L. Ford's factory PCV system routes oil mist, moisture, and combustion vapors directly back into the intake manifold, where they coat valve stems, foul the intake tract, and create conditions for detonation. Moroso's air-oil separator catch can intercepts those contaminants before they reach the intake, returning cleaner air to the engine and collected oil to the drain rather than your combustion chamber.
Internal baffling and mesh media do the separating. Each billet aluminum separator body uses a combination of internal baffling and mesh media to strip oil mist and moisture from crankcase vapors. Filtered air continues through the PCV circuit while captured oil collects in the body for periodic draining. The result is a cleaner intake charge and less carbon accumulation on intake valves over time.
Two body sizes give you options for tight engine bays. Moroso offers this separator in a large body and a small body configuration. The large body carries 43 percent more capacity than the small body, features a bottom drain port with an elbow fitting for virtually mess-free draining, and ships with a polished finish that can be chromed, painted, or powder coated. The small body fits tighter spaces and unscrews into two pieces for draining; it is available in a polished or black anodized finish. Both body sizes share the same internal construction and mounting hardware.
Complete hardware ships in the kit. Every kit includes heavy-duty brass inlet and outlet fittings, fuel-and-PCV-rated vapor hose, a stainless steel mounting bracket, and a billet aluminum body clamp. Routing and securing the separator requires no fabrication and no sourcing of additional hardware.
