Lack of proper heat management leaves wiring, electronics, and interior panels exposed to radiant heat that builds up fast in tight engine bays, near firewalls, and under floorboards. Heatshield Products Lava Shield blocks up to 80% of that radiant heat with a peel-and-stick barrier made from crushed volcanic rock and finished with a sleek simulated carbon fiber surface.

Volcanic basalt construction handles serious heat. Natural basalt fibers form the core of Lava Shield, giving it a continuous rating of 1,200°F and an intermittent rating of 2,000°F. Basalt also resists chemicals and acids, so the material holds up in the harsh, contaminated environments found around exhaust, fuel systems, and engine bays.

Peel-and-stick installation takes minutes. The self-adhesive backing bonds directly to most clean, smooth surfaces with no brackets, fasteners, or special tools. Hoods, firewalls, tunnels, floorboards, and panels all accept the material without modification. For best adhesion and thermal performance, Heatshield Products recommends a minimum 1-inch air gap between the shield and the heat source.

Available in multiple sizes and two thicknesses. Lava Shield comes in sheets ranging from 12 in x 24 in up to 48 in x 60 in, in either 0.008-inch or 0.025-inch weave thickness. The 0.025-inch variant carries more material in the weave for added protection in higher-demand zones. Both versions cut cleanly with scissors or a utility knife for precise fitting around complex shapes.

Carbon fiber-style finish adds visual appeal. The surface coating mimics a carbon fiber weave, so exposed areas inside engine bays or custom builds look finished rather than patched. The coating also contributes to heat reflection, complementing the basalt core's thermal dissipation properties.

Product Benefits
