This nut is required for the proper installation of the 2.3L EcoBoost engine cover on the Ford Ranger. The nut fastens the cover to the studs mounted in the valve cover so that it is held securely. The nut is a nylock nut to prevent it from backing off or loosening from engine vibrations and bumps in the road. Ford's nut is recommended and should be used for proper installation of the engine cover. Hardware from other sources may damage the stud or engine cover and may not provide proper fitment.
