G3500 high-grade disc alloy outer rings. Every ring is cast from G3500 alloy, a high-carbon, high-copper metallurgy derived from motorsport applications. Superior thermal conductivity and heat-cycling durability translate directly to longer rotor life and consistent friction performance during repeated hard stops, where standard cast iron begins to crack and craze.
Floating two-piece construction reduces thermal stress. Separating the cast iron ring from the aluminum center hub allows the ring to expand and contract freely under heat, eliminating the thermal distortion that warps one-piece rotors. The center hub, stainless steel bobbins, pressure clips, and all hardware are manufactured at the EBC Racing facility in the UK for tight dimensional control.
48 curved, handed vanes maximize cooling efficiency. The vane geometry is directional: left and right rings rotate so the curved vanes always pull air through in the correct direction. Increased airflow through the rotor pulls heat away from the friction surface faster, keeping pad and rotor temperatures in a more controlled range lap after lap.
Significant unsprung weight reduction. Because the disc sits at the corner of the vehicle and rotates, it contributes both to unsprung mass and rotational inertia, two factors that affect acceleration, braking response, and cornering more than equivalent weight added elsewhere on the car. The two-piece design sheds meaningful mass compared to a same-size solid iron rotor, with measurable improvements in turn-in response and deceleration feel.
Proven in EBC's R90 thermal fatigue testing. EBC's two-piece rotors completed two consecutive back-to-back R90 dynamometer cycles with no cracking and no visible crazing. Most OEM discs show cracking at stop 40 and fail before completing a single R90 cycle. That margin represents more than four times the thermal fatigue resistance of a typical factory rotor.
Precision-ground for flatness. After casting, each ring is balance-checked, metallurgy-checked, and double-disc ground to flatness within microns. That level of accuracy ensures even pad contact from the first bedding cycle and eliminates the thickness variation that causes pedal pulsation.
