Factory Ford 2.3L EcoBoost crankshafts leave the assembly line optimized for commuter duty and moderate power levels. Callies takes those same forgings and puts them through an exhaustive modification process, stripping away mass, eliminating stress risers, and hardening the surface so the crank can handle the demands of high-RPM, high-output builds in the 2015-2026 Mustang EcoBoost and Focus RS.

Cryogenic stress relieving sets the foundation. Each crankshaft undergoes cryogenic thermal stress relieving before any machining begins, stabilizing the grain structure of the forging and reducing residual stresses that could cause fatigue failures under sustained high-RPM loads.

Profile-Lite milling removes weight where it counts. Callies performs comprehensive Profile-Lite milling across all rod journal arms and main bearing heels, achieving an overall weight reduction of 9 lbs from the stock crankshaft. Lighter rotating assembly mass means faster revs and reduced parasitic load on the engine.

Shot peening and Aeroshed finishing complete the surface treatment. The entire gray area of the crankshaft receives shot peening to develop beneficial compressive stress throughout the surface, followed by Aeroshed finishing to remove every last stress riser. Together, these two steps dramatically improve fatigue resistance compared to a stock or lightly modified crank.

OEM dimensions are preserved where they matter. All finished surfaces, including rod journals, main journals, post, and flange, are held to OEM specifications. Callies Impervious Masking guarantees each shaft ships with Ford-correct dimensions, so standard bearings and factory hardware install without modification.

Balanced and ready for assembly. Each crankshaft is dynamically balanced to within 0.5 gram-inch and inspected for straightness before leaving the facility. A 3mm post keyway and an untouched timing pad on the number-one counterweight ensure accurate phasing during assembly. The crank ships in corrosion-resistant packaging for extended shelf life.

Multiple weight configurations are available. Choose from Lightweight Full Lightening Package, Heavyweight with Full Counterweight, Lightweight with Full Counterweight, or a Cut Keyway Only option, depending on the specific demands of your build.
