Forged 4340 steel for endurance-grade strength. Callies machines this crankshaft from proprietary 4340 forgings produced in the United States. Forged 4340 carries higher tensile and fatigue strength than cast or billet alternatives at equivalent weight, making it the material of choice for builds that see sustained wide-open-throttle operation.

Structural geometry redesigned from the pin arms out. Compared to the outgoing XB and XL cranks, the Ultra Dirt features more robust pin arms to reduce torsional fatigue at the rod journal radius. Additional material placed around the centerline virtually eliminates crank flex under load, keeping rod journal geometry consistent through the entire power stroke.

Radially narrowed counterweights reduce reciprocating mass without compromise. Rather than the pendulum-cut counterweight style used on earlier designs, Callies narrowed the counterweights radially. The result is a lighter rotating assembly that still maintains the balance integrity required for endurance competition, where bearing survival depends on consistent dynamic balance across thousands of cycles.
