Ford's 5.0L Coyote has earned a strong reputation on the street and at the track, but pushing one beyond stock power levels demands a crankshaft built to match. Callies Compstar cranks start as proprietary 4340 steel forgings, machined and finished by American craftsmen at Callies' Fostoria, Ohio facility, and emerge nitrided and ready to handle the elevated horsepower and torque of a built Coyote. Available in multiple stroke and rod journal configurations, this crankshaft opens the door to displacement increases while retaining all standard OEM driveline, valvetrain, and accessory components.
Proprietary forgings, not off-the-shelf blanks. Callies forges these cranks using company-owned dies, distinguishable by the triangle-shaped notch in one of the counterweights. That distinction matters: the forging geometry is specific to Callies' design intent, not a generic blank shared across suppliers. Semi-finished offshore machining is followed by 100% finish sizing and polishing at the Fostoria facility, where runout, bolt holes, oil holes, and journal widths are individually verified before any crank ships.
Material and process integrity verified in-house. Every Compstar crankshaft undergoes 100% Magnetic Particle Inspection to screen for cracks or material inclusions. Callies' on-site metallurgical laboratory then confirms that the 4340 steel and nitride case heat treatment meet internal engineering specifications, adding a layer of quality assurance beyond what most aftermarket suppliers provide.
Multiple stroke options for displacement flexibility. The lineup covers a stock 92.7mm stroke with a standard Coyote rod journal, a 96.5mm stroke, and a 99.06mm stroke, each available in specific rod journal diameters. All configurations share the same large-radius journals that define the Compstar line, reducing stress concentration at the fillet and supporting high rod loads. A 2.656-inch main journal and lightened rod journals keep rotating mass manageable, and the cranks are cammed for a 5.85-inch rod length.
Product Benefits
- 4340 Steel Construction: Forged from high-strength 4340 steel using Callies-owned dies for consistent geometry and material integrity.
- Nitride Case Heat Treatment: Surface hardening extends journal life under sustained high-load operation.
- Multiple Stroke Configurations: Choose from stock, 3.800-inch, or 3.900-inch stroke options with compatible rod journal diameters to suit your displacement target.
- All Rod Journals Lightened: Reduces rotating mass without compromising strength at the journal radius.
- Large Strength-Enhancing Journal Radii: Compstar-standard fillet geometry minimizes stress concentration across all journals.
- 100% Mag Particle Inspected: Every crankshaft is screened for cracks and material inclusions before leaving the facility.
- American Finish Work: Final sizing, polishing, and quality control performed by Callies craftsmen in Fostoria, Ohio.
- OEM Driveline Compatibility: Retains stock driveline, valvetrain, and accessory components across all stroke configurations.
- Average Weight of 46 lbs: Consistent finished weight simplifies balancing for engine builders.
Note: Fits 5.0L Coyote found in Mustang and F-150 applications. Available in the following Stroke/Rod Journal configurations: 3.650/2.087, 3.900/2.000, 3.900/1.885, 3.800/2.100, and 3.800/2.000. Main journal diameter is 2.656 inches. Cammed for 5.85-inch rod length. Verify dimensions are compatible with your build before ordering.
About Callies: Callies Performance Products designs and engineers rotating assembly components at their facility in Fostoria, Ohio. The Compstar line, introduced in 2004, targets racers and performance builders who need proven strength and dimensional accuracy at a competitive price point. Callies maintains an in-house metallurgical laboratory and enforces 100% inspection protocols across their crankshaft production to ensure every component meets their internal engineering standards before it ships.
