Steeda Focus ST Short Throw Shifter Kit (2013-2018)

Installed on a 2017 ST. Did the plate first. Watch the install video from CJ Pony Parts on UTube for some helpful tips. Having a small mirror will help you tighten one of the screws. The plate alone is great for shortening up the shifts. Then on to the shifter. Again the CJ install video is great, but be aware that the 2017 is different from the year/model in the Steeda instructions and CJ video. 2017 is a lot easier to install. Fully recommend installing the complete kit.

Bought this for my brand new 2017 Focus St with 1500 miles on it. Thought the stock shifter felt fine, but the throw was fairly long. I had a local shop install the bracket and shifter, man did it make a huge difference. I set the shifter up for the biggest throw reduction. It feels more beefy and precise than the stock shifter. Also, when I took it out of the box I was surprised at the build quality, the stock shifter has a fair amount of plastic in it, the Steeda shifter is made entirely of aluminum. Overall, very happy with the purchase, totally worth the money!

One of the best upgrades for the ST. I have a '14. Install took about 2 hours. Most difficult part was the darn spring! Maybe with smaller hands it would have been easier to get the factory shifter out. Entire install was a breeze otherwise. Installed in the middle slot, throw is short but not incredibly short. No more slop. Definitely makes a huge improvement, one of the best upgrades that you can get for under $200

Only owned my ST for about a week and had to do something about the horrible stock shifter. My previous cars have all had short shifters so maybe I've been spoiled, but this solved my number one complaint with the ST, that's for sure. Ended up using the middle throw reduction hole, the highest reduction felt like a tiny bit too much and figured it'd be confusing to figure out if you're in gear at times, but the middle is just right. Highly recommend. Installation was easy but had to do a tiny bit of cutting on the stock shifter to remove, pretty sure a revision was done and they don't just slide right out anymore, not Steeda's fault but also not a tough fix at all.

The driving dynamics altered by the Steeda shifter and rear motor mount truly assist with the ergonomics with smoother, crisp shifts and much less wheel hop.

I installed the shift plate first and was very impressed with the amount of reduction, Shifting was more precise and felt crisper. needless to say the test drive was very fun indeed. I nstalled the shift lever the next day. The only parts Ineeded to trim in the console were the tab to remove the cover to get the original lever out and the reverse lock out tab. I chose to go with the max reduction, this once I got everything assembled need to trim about 1/8 from the rear of the reverse lock out tab. During install the centering spring stationary leg kept popping off the tab. There was nothing to keep it there just a shallow U shape in the plastic. I used a long screw driver to hold the stationary leg in place and still allow room the install the shift lever while I held the moving leg with a pair of needle nose. After the install I noticed that the reverse lock out mechanisim an the boot could be rotated, I looked at the original shift lever and it has a guide to prevent rotation. The reduction from the lever is not as great as the plate is but still noticeable. Great product Steeda.

This shifter is the second Steeda short-throw shifter I've got in my driveway - my '98 SVT Contour is sporting the other. Steeda makes a great product, and I'll definitely be coming back for more. The installation was not too terrible - it says tech recommended on the website, but I had very little difficulty with the overall installation. The allen-head screws on the bottom of the bracket in the engine bay were the hardest part for me - very difficult and time-consuming to tighten with hand tools. I wish the instructions had color pictures - the black and white ones can make it a bit hard to distinguish what you're aiming for sometimes. The feel of the shifter has vastly improved, going from a slightly rubbery, longish throw to a short, precise, very positive one. There seems to be a bit more effort required to shift, but instead of moving my entire arm to shift, I can do it with just a flick of my wrist. I set mine at the greatest amount of throw reduction. I like that the height of the knob is not drastically changed. Overall, this is one of the best things I've done to my ST. I wish I'd done it sooner!

I love the way my car shifts with this shifter and bracket! Its like driving a totally different car. Opening up the box when it came in the mail I was amazed with the craftsmanship of this product and after installing it, it was worth every penny!

Installation instructions were not as clear as I would have liked. The bracket is tough to install with the lower side nut being very hard to get to. But it definitely changes the shift length. Then you go inside to deal with the shift lever itself. This is a tough one, but no fault of Steeda. The trim ring is almost impossible to get off without breaking a tab. It would have been nice to know exactly where those tabs are. It takes three hands to get the lever in the spot and everything on it in the right place. Clean ALL the grease out you can when removing the stock shifter and then regrease with white lithium spray after install. I installed on the middle attachment and it didn't change the throw a lot (the bracket install already did reduce it quite a bit). However, the shifting feels much more precise with this package. The workmanship on the products is awesome. I can see my little Focus ST will have more Steeda parts on it in the future.

I ordered this kit but as of yet I have only installed the bracket. Other than being a pita to reach under to tighten the screw all the way down, and having banged my hands up a good deal, this is one of my favorite mods so far. The reduction feels great. I guess I've gotten accustomed to the feel already because I want it shorter. Time to install the shifter I guess.

I just installed my Steeda Short Throw Shifter on my 2013 Focus ST and this thing is awesome! I purchased the kit, which comes with the bracket and the shifter. I installed the bracket first and went for a drive and the throws were reduced significantly. I then installed the shifter and WOW! I'm going to have to get used to driving my car again! What a great mod for the Focus ST!
