Steeda Focus Short Throw Shifter (Late 02-11 All)

The first thing about this shifter that you will notice is the quality. The machining is beautiful, and the materials are high grade. The most enjoyable part will be when you make a shift using it. I ordered this shifter for my 2008 Focus and I am glad I did. it's a whole new car. i did have to file down the little alignment pin that sits about halfway up the shifter because it faces the wrong way (as stated in other reviews here) but it works flawlessly. Money well spent. I'm very impressed and will recommend steeda to everyone.

Item arrived quickly and I installed it in under an hour with a Phillips screwdriver and pair of cable cutters. It was all very easy with the detailed instructions. A prior review mentioned filing down a (roll) pin. The instructions state that the roll pin should face the rear when installed, but on mine the roll pin was evenly punched in to the shifter shaft such that it was symmetrically exiting both front and rear. I simply tapped it in flush with the shifter shaft which allowed the reinstall of the cable mount. The height is a few inches lower than stock. This allows better ergonomics when driving in a lower than OEM aftermarket seat (a Sparco Fighter on a Sparco base in my case). The throws are shorter and the shorter lever allows more accurate shifts when driving in a spirited manner. Very happy with my first short throw shifter purchase and installation. I got the billet shift knob with it and it looks great. Thanks for the assistance, Jigar.

Great product, the shifter is at the perfect length and with basic tools you can install it by yourself in about and hour. The only problem I had was the pin needed to be filed down so the shift cable mount could slide on to it, but simple fix.

I've got an '06. I bought it new and have done a few minor mods to it to make it more fun to drive. When I was getting bored with it again a few months ago, I bought the tri-ax shifter. It installed in no time, with basic tools, is a clean fit and really livens up the driving experience. Shifting is crisp and precise. Why did I not do this sooner? Thanks STEEDA! Ben

I've had this install for about two years now and is one of my favorite mods. Mods that involve things I touch and see every day tend to be the more enjoyable ones. Paired with a more stiff dogbone mount, this thing really helps with shifts. Not only is it physically shorter than the stock shifter, the throws are shorter and more concise. It also does away with the cheap feeling plastic of the stock faux-reverse lockout. The installation is straight forward and you can do it in your driveway with basic hand tools in less than an hour.

As with Mustangs, You can't beat Steeda's STS for a Focus. Quick, short shifts is what you'll get w/ a Steeda shifter.

When I bought my car this was already on it, the short throw trips out everybody, the gears so much easier to find, I noticed a much faster shift than the stong one. The bummer is that once in a while the plastic piece slips off of the shifter and you'll have to remove the boot and lift it up again. But overall pretty much an eccential for anyone looking to make your car sporty.
