Hi everybody Brian from Steeda.com, here today to share with you our Lowering Springs for the 2011 a 2019 Ford Explorer. As we've highlighted in some of our other product videos for the Ford Explorer we know that you're utilizing your truck in many different ways. Whether it's going to the hardware store, going to the grocery store, hauling the family around the country. Taking the boat to the local lake or even better towing your race car! There's a wide range of uses that each of you are using your Explorer for and we designed our Springs with all of those uses in mind. Now it only lowers the truck approximately seven eighths of an inch upfront and one in three eighths inch in the back and they're only about twenty percent stiffer than stock. Now we want a little bit stiffer so you'd have better towing capability, a more sporting feel or a more connected feel to the road and let's be honest it looks awesome with these Springs on. We've also kept in mind though that you're going to be driving this truck everyday or want to and across the country. So the springs are subtle enough we're not going to be harsh by any means. Again just simply more connected to the road. As you've come to expect from Steeda we spent a ton of time developing these for the Explorer. From determining the perfect ride height and the ideal spring rates, to constructing them of silicon alloy steel. Then we complete these with a durable powder coat finish. They're made in the USA and we back them with our lifetime warranty. Great product!
I've been waiting for a long time for Steeda to finally release their lowering springs for the Explorer. I really just wanted something with stiffer springs to help when I'm towing something but a subtle drop is always nice as well. The install wasn't terrible as the rear springs only took me about an hour and a half to install but that includes jacking the rear up, putting it on jack stands, taking the wheels off, and then reverse that process. The fronts however took about 3-4 hours pending if you have help or not which I did not. I did this all with basic hand tools as I'm a DIY kind of person. The fronts were definitely a bit tricky and the installation instructions that Steeda provides are on the more basic side of things. All in all this can be done with basic tools however I would suggest a 2nd person to help with the fronts as it would go quicker. I'm guessing the springs will settle down just a tad which I hope they don't because the current height is perfect. I didn't want to go too low since it's my wife's daily driver. The ride quality vs stock is nearly identical. You can barely tell a difference on bumpy roads which is great. The handling is so much better however I must say I have it paired with the Steeda rear sway bar and Steeda trailing arms. I highly recommend these springs if you're looking for better handling and a bit more of an aggressive look. I'm guessing I'll have to upgrade the struts down the road and possibly shave down the bump stops but I'll update this review down the road. Steeda, please keep production more "aftermarket" parts for the Explorer!

Gen 5 Explorer Lowering Springs
I'm a DIY guy with some basic automotive skills. I own a 2014 Explorer Sport that I've had H&R lowering springs on for better than three years now. The springs did a decent enough job of lowering the vehicle, more so in the front than the rear. The resulting look was a raked profile that took some getting used to. As far as ride and handling, I found the H&Rs acceptable though a bit too aggressive for my liking but I lived with them all the while hoping for less aggressive alternatives to come to market. With help from the good folks at Steeda, I was convinced that I should give their new lowering spring offering a try. I'm happy to say that after installing the new springs, the rake is gone, the ride quality and directional stability over bumps and uneven surfaces is greatly improved. Highway ride is outstanding !! Ride height is similar to the Steeda Explorer pictured with the springs on the website .. Overall, I'm quite pleased with these springs so far. I expect that as they break in over time, the ride and appearance will continue to improve.
