For those hardcore enthusiasts looking to achieve substantial horsepower and torque increases and who aren't intimidated by having to upgrade their valve springs, COMP Cams offers a full line-up of XFI VSR (Valve Springs Required) Cam Sets for Ford 4.6L/5.4L Modular 3 Valve Engines that offer as much as 40 hp increases over stock levels. Available for both naturally aspirated and supercharged engines, these cam sets are also available in two stages. Designed to work with the Ford variable cam timing (VCT) system, these camshaft sets are direct replacements that bolt in without engine modification except the valve spring upgrade. By working with the VCT, which is programmed to retard the camshaft timing at peak power, COMP Cams XFI VSR Cam Sets for Ford 4.6L/5.4L Modular 3 Valve Engines optimize both mid-range and high rpm performance.

Serious street cam, noticeable idle. Solid power gains above 4600 rpm, requires spring upgrade. Works with tuners, tuning recommended. Best with 3.90 gears & 3000 stall.

Mid to upper range cam for bolt-on blowers with high boost. Noticeable idle, solid power gains above 4900 rpm, requires spring upgrade. Best with 3000+ stall.

With a. 550" maximum lift, these Beehive Valve Springs were designed for Ford 4.6L and 5.4L Modular 2 and 3 Valve engines. COMP Cams Beehive Valve Springs deliver increased valve train stability and a much lighter valve train. This is achieved with less spring pressure for better valve control and reduced weight of both the spring and retainer. The unique Beehive shape handles valve train stress more efficiently to eliminate damaging harmonics and increases high RPM horsepower and durability. The oval/multi-arc wire shape places the maximum area of the wire at the point of highest stress to handle valve train stress more efficiently and allow better heat dissipation for longer life. Because of the unique Beehive design, the valve train can handle more RPM and more aggressive cam profiles.

New valve springs with larger diameters require new retainers to handle the higher pressures developed by the springs. COMP Cams steel retainers are the solution. Our steel retainers are precision machined from 4140 chromemoly and finished in black oxide. These precision retainers are specifically designed for positive location when combined with COMP Cams high-quality valve springs. For superior strength and ultimate stability, we offer our 10 retainers and our 10 valve locks.
