Eliminate deflection. Our Steeda S550 Mustang Front Control Arm Spherical Bearing Kit eliminates deflection of the factory bushing which is extremely important in any performance application. Deflection in the tension link factory bushings can cause all sorts of negative handling effects and geometry changes. 

Improved suspension performance. You will notice increased chassis responsiveness upon installing Steeda's Front Control Arm spherical bearings. Our spherical bearings stop your S550 from front end toe and caster changes during launching and braking. We use high precision custom Teflon-lined bearings to ensure smooth operation and prevent bind. This also increases the bearing's life and minimizes the need for it to be replaced.

No NVH or binding. The spherical bearing's design, unlike most, will not increase NVH whatsoever so you are able to maintain factory ride quality. The high articulation spacers allow the spherical bearing to fully articulate and never bind. They are the highest articulation spacers on the market. 360-degree Spirolox retaining rings hold the bearing in place inside the housing and, once installed, the housing inside the control arm. 

Made & competition proven in USA. Manufactured in our state of the art engineering facility in Valdosta, GA, the bearing housing is made from 6061-T6 aluminum and the spacers are made from 1018 steel, which is nickel-plated to prevent corrosion. Drag race and Road Course tested, you will feel confident installing these on the front of your S550.

Install & removal dies included. Steeda even went the extra mile and includes an exclusive in house manufactured 2 piece install and removal tool kit for making this job a breeze for the do-it-yourselfer with access to a hydraulic press.

Hi everybody Brian from here today to show you our Spherical Bearing Conversion for the tension links on the front of your S550 Mustang. The tension links or front control arms on the S550 serve a couple of key purposes. Really though they're designed to keep the front geometry of the suspension in check under hard braking or hard cornering and the factory bushings are a soft durometer rubber and what this ultimately means is deflection. So as mentioned under hard braking your front suspension wants to pull back against these tension links or again front control arms and the rubber the factory rubber bushings tend to flex a lot. What that does is it means that the braking feel of the car is not only going to be vague but because the geometry of the suspension is changing enough you're gonna get a little bit of squirminess under extreme stops or hard braking. This happens a lot when you're Autocrossing the car at the racetrack or just even an emergency stop. The other time it really comes into play is under hard cornering load is the car starting to lean toward that outside tire onto that outside tire the tension link is responsible for not allowing the strut to pull back and decrease the natural caster that Ford designed into the front suspension. Now that soft durometer bushing will allow the tension link to pull back a little bit. We've got a solution and just as importantly a great solution for those of you that love to do things yourselves. In comes our Spherical Bearing Conversion for the front control arms or tension links. Now these are a great project for the do-it-yourselfer because you can press out the existing bushings and press in our spherical bearings. We even provide the press kit and tools needed to do this whether you do it at home and you have a press or you take it to the local machine shop. It's a pretty straightforward procedure to do. Now more on these bearings these things are 1 inch stainless steel Teflon coated pre-loaded and made in the USA. That is a lot to say in one sentence but you know what it's important for you to know this because this means quality and lifelong durability. The bearing is housed in a retainer that's made of CNC billet aluminum and as always we take things even further than that. Holding the bearings in place our set of Spiral Locks Retaining Rings. Now again going even further we use nickel plated adapters to adapt these down to the diameter of the factory bolt. So no additional hardware is needed everything is provided. What all this means is that you're gonna have zero deflection in the front tension links or control arms. So under hard braking you're not going to get that squirminess. Under hard cornering you're not going to get any loss of caster or any oddball suspension geometry changes. It will be held tight and what's really great about these is because we've pre-loaded them and they're Teflon lined there's no noise vibration or harshness. You can use these on a daily driver, a track-day car, an autocross car or for a lot of you that one car that does all of those things. High quality but doesn’t fit GT500
This piece is very nice. However, the GT500 has a different mounting depth in the control arm and so it doesn’t fit. The diameter is fine, and I tried to find a thinner snap ring, but no dice.
