When it comes time for speed and performance, there are fewer names with more know-how and history than Edelbrock! Vic Edelbrock Sr. started his love affair with cars when he got his hands on his very first 1932 Ford Roadster and was introduced to the world of hot rods by his brother-in-law. By 1938, Vic Sr. had the bug for going fast and began to race his Ford Roadster at top speed competitions in the neighboring deserts of Southern California. The first product to bear the Edelbrock name was an upgraded intake manifold that was a replacement for the flawed design of the flathead V-8. The Slingshot intake was born.
After World War II, Vic Sr. opened a speed shop in North Hollywood, California where he sold “Slingshot” intake for Ford flathead V8s, along with everything from headers to crankshafts and steering wheels. By the time the 1950s rolled around, Vic’s business was absolutely flourishing and he moved into a brand new facility where he was able to custom machine parts right on-premises, as well as employ the usage of one of the countries very first dynamometers. The business was booming and people began to take notice as several Edelbrock equipped vehicles broke speed records at venues all over the country.
Over the years, the Edelbrock business grew into a performance powerhouse that made a name for itself providing carburetors, intake manifolds, and other high-performance products for everything from muscle cars to performance sedans. Today, Edelbrock has six locations in the United States including a corporate headquarters in Torrance, California, two casting foundries in San Jacinto, California, a Distribution Center in Olive Branch, Mississippi, the Edelbrock Carburetor Factory in Sanford, North Carolina, and the Edelbrock Race Center in Mooresville, North Carolina.
