Not what I expected
Having had previous CAI on other vehicles I was interested to see what it would be like on our Explorer. Installation was as expected but the ability to fit the piping into the shield took more time than expected. With the CAI installed our first drives proved an interesting change to the driving experience. With the whoosh of the turbo more clearly heard suddenly the family SUV was the tuner car. Unfortunately, the loud or increased intake noise as expected was not there until the shift and the air release. Going up hills is an interesting sound as well to be able to balance the throttle to stay in boost makes driving more interesting. For anyone looking to tuner up their Explorer this is the install for you. Quiet when you want it and loud when you need it.
