Panhard Bars

The humble Panhard bar is the often forgotten piece of suspension technology that allows vehicles with a solid axle to handle with the type of ferocity you'd expect with a machine as intense as the Mustang. These simple parts are designed to center the axle laterally (side to side) in order to prevent movement that could lead to a vehicle feeling unsettled while on the road. For the Mustang, which has only offered an independent rear suspension in the latest generation, keeping that rear axle settled is incredibly important to the overall handling feel of these beasts.

One of the weak points on Mustangs is the factory mounting bracket for the panhard bar. If you ever have the opportunity to hop underneath your Mustang, give a tug on this bracket and you will see that it moves under the force of your hand. Imagine what it does under hard cornering? In order to stiffen the panhard bar bracket, Steeda has engineered a heavy duty chromoly Panhard bar brace that takes the strain off this part and allows your suspension to take a proper set in corners so you can feel more confident behind the wheel. This is an easy, bolt in application that has some serious benefits.

For those that love the Mustang, customization is simply part of the game and that customization usually starts at the four corners. One of the most common upgrades on Mustangs is to drop the car a few inches with a lowering kit to attain a lower center of gravity and tighter handling characteristics. Once you do this, the rear axle will shift its location and the factory Panhard bars will no longer be ideally located. If you add in offset wheels to the mix, these conditions will further cause the panhard rods to fall out of sync and you'll get some crazy handling characteristics. It's no fun.

Steeda has a solution for this common problem; a fully adjustable panhard bar! We carry a great selection of fully adjustable, ultra - strong and ultra light weight adjustable panhard bars that allow owners of Mustangs with offset wheels or lowered suspensions to properly dial in their panhard bars for accurate tracking and save some weight in the process. This will help your Mustang feel more buttoned down and more confident, especially in side to side transitions.

Don't overlook this crucial bit of suspension technology! It's one of the easiest and most effective ways to get your S197 confidently out on the track.
