Some owners of new model vehicles are a bit timid when it comes to modifying their vehicles for enhanced performance – oftentimes they have the notion that if they were to modify their vehicle with aftermarket parts their new car warranty would be voided and that they would be financially liable for any future repairs to their vehicle. At Steeda Autosports we take extra steps to ensure that the performance parts we design, engineer, and manufacture WILL NOT adversely affect your new car warranty.
The reason is really quite simple – Steeda Autosports has a long-term partnership with Ford Motor Company and we actively participate in the Ford/SEMA Technology Initiative Sharing Program ensuring a robust exchange of technical and testing information related to Ford vehicles. Before we sell any new part, we take extra steps to ensure that our parts will not cause a related or unrelated component failure where your new car warranty could potentially be jeopardized. Whenever you see the Steeda name on a product it is your guarantee that that part is the highest quality available and that it has been made with specific intent to ensure that the integrity and value of your new car is not compromised. Designed, engineered, and manufactured under exceptionally strict ISO 9001:2008 guidelines, our parts exceed most new car warranty requirements.
One should have caution however when dealing with other aftermarket parts and accessories manufacturers. You want to make sure that whatever part you are buying indeed is made under strict certified guidelines to ensure their quality. Question to see that if their part fails and subsequently causes a Ford warranted part to fail they will stand behind and warrant the Ford part on your behalf. Do some investigation and make sure that the aftermarket company you are considering purchasing from has a current ISO 9001:2008 certification. Question whether their parts are manufactured offshore in developing countries or in substandard facilities. Ask them why are their parts made overseas. The real answer is readily apparent – because it is perceived to be cheaper. Remember the old saying, “You get what you pay for.” Is a foreign-made substandard part what you really want to put on your American performance vehicle?
At Steeda Autosports, we have ISO 9001:2008 certified, state of the art manufacturing facilities in Pompano Beach Florida and also Valdosta Georgia and are committed to ensuring that your new car warranty will never compromised. The Steeda name is your guarantee of quality and no warranty issues!
For all of you technical types that can appreciate the applicable legal verbiage, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975, protects consumers from being wrongfully denied warranty coverage by new car dealers and manufacturers.
Specifically the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act states, in part, in Title 15, United States Code, Section 2302, subdivision (c): No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the [Federal Trade] Commission if – (1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and – (2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest. The Commission shall identify in the Federal Register, and permit public comment on, all applications for waiver of the prohibition of this subsection, and shall publish in the Federal Register its disposition of any such application, including the reasons therefore.
Under this act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not automatically void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle’s warranty (which Ford Motor Company does not), or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. In addition, Ford Motor Company or its dealer must prove that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If the manufacturer or dealer cannot prove such a claim – or it proffers a questionable explanation – it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty under the Magnuson-Moss Act.
Complicated? It can be a real headache unless your car is enhanced with authentic Steeda performance parts and accessories. We are your guarantee of quality and compliance with the Ford new car warranty. As a matter of fact, there has NEVER been a failure of a Steeda performance part that has cause a new car warranty to be denied….proof of the quality we build into every performance part we sell.
